Sporting Anderlecht is on the verge of a very encouraging third place. After nine days of the championship, the Mauves already have no less than eighteen points. It now remains to be seen whether number 35 will manage to keep up the pace.
This Saturday, the Brussels club will host FC Mechelen at its facilities. A meeting which will also be played behind closed doors. At least that’s what Sporting Anderlecht assured on its social networks. Brian Riemer and his players will therefore be able to count on a packed stadium to try to beat the Sang et Or. If, last weekend, the most successful club in Belgium had won on the Eupen pitch, Steven Defour’s men took a point once morest Antwerp.
For the Malinois reception, Anderlecht will play, on the occasion of Paul Van Himst’s eightieth birthday, with a retro jersey. Enough to bring back wonderful memories for the oldest fans of the hereditary rival of Club Bruges but also of Standard de Liège.
The rest of the program for the Royal Sporting Club of Anderlecht
After challenging FC Mechelen, Anderlecht will travel to Standard de Liège.
In the Belgian Cup, Kasper Dolberg and his teammates will face RAAL La Louvière, at the Tivoli, on November 1st. Like two years ago, the two teams will therefore meet once more.
