Dhe deputy governor and SPÖ top candidate Franz Schnabl wants to make a “personal statement” today, Wednesday. According to their own statements, it is not regarding a resignation.
The personal statement from 1 p.m. in the live stream:
When a politician invites the press to make a “personal statement,” the incumbent is likely to resign. That was also what journalists thought when Franz Schnabl sent out an appointment with the same title on Tuesday evening. Today, Wednesday at 1 p.m., the red deputy governor and SPÖ top candidate wants to make such a personal statement for January 29 in the SPÖ state parliament club.
Is Schnabl the governor’s claim?
“But it’s not regarding a resignation,” as Schnabl clarified in an interview with NÖN late Tuesday evening. Rather, the 64-year-old apparently wanted to attract some attention. Schnabl should present his election goal at this press conference. In political circles it is assumed that he will formulate the claim to be governor like the FPÖ’s top candidate Udo Landbauer. In any case, it was a very personal statement, as Schnabl emphasized.
Recently, the scenario of a possible SPÖ-FPÖ-NEOS government had been painted more and more often by the ÖVP, should the absolute majority of the People’s Party be broken, which the last NÖN survey also shows. The ÖVP came to 42 percent. But the SPÖ is not moving either. With the certified 24 percent, the SPÖ in Lower Austria is at the value of 2018. Accordingly, in addition to the FPÖ, another junior partner would also be needed with the NEOS. According to a current “Krone” report, the NEOS top candidate Indra Collini has already rejected a possible cooperation with the FPÖ.
