Plakolm should start the initiative in her own party
Vienna (OTS/SK) – SPÖ spokeswoman for network policy Katharina Kucharowits and SPÖ women’s spokeswoman Eva-Maria Holzleitner today congratulate Youth State Secretary Plakolm on the fact that she is obviously also dealing with opposition proposals. “For a year now, the ÖVP and the Greens have been postponing our proposal for mandatory labeling of beauty filters on social media platforms. I am pleased that the State Secretary is now taking up this suggestion. It turns out that awareness of the problem is significantly higher among affected young people than among Plakolm’s ÖVP colleagues. “She should first raise awareness in the ÖVP ranks, because so far her group has shown no interest in providing protection once morest unattainable ideals of beauty,” criticizes Kucharowits. ****
Women’s spokesperson Holzleitner welcomes the fact that there is now an Austrian study on the phenomenon. “We already know the fatal effects of beauty filters on young people from numerous international studies. It is welcome that there are now figures from Austria, but it would be better if the ÖVP might finally bring itself to act,” said Holzleitner. (End) sd/bj
