Klagenfurt (OTS) – Today, on Saturday, Labg. Günter Leikam was elected as the new district party chairman of the SPÖ St. Veit in the Fürstenhof Friesach with a clear vote of 96.2 percent of the delegate votes (79 delegates). Among the well-wishers on site were the SPÖ Carinthia state party leader LH Peter Kaiser, as well as Federal Councilor Claudia Arpa, the Carinthian top candidate for the EU elections. Kaiser emphasized the importance of a strong and united social democracy in the super election year of 2024, while Arpa addressed current European issues.
“My team and I take the mandate of the delegates very seriously and will continue to work for a strong SPÖ in the St. Veit/Glan district in the future,” said the new district chairman Günter Leikam. Leikam also thanked his predecessor, Klaus Köchl, for his more than 20 years of service in the district.
Leikam’s election as district party chairman marks a significant step towards a united and modern future for the SPÖ St. Veit. The experienced politician Günter Leikam emphasized that he would lead the party with determination and integrity.
