Seeker: Men lose 63,000 euros, women 57,000 euros as a result of the federal government’s responsibility for the unjust inflation adjustment of pensions!
Klagenfurt – The state manager of the SPÖ-Carinthia, Andreas Sucher, describes the pension regulation chosen by the federal government as an ice-cold pension robbery. As the state party chairman, state governor Peter Kaiser, pointed out yesterday, the monthly adjustment of inflation to pensions results in massive and “outrageous” unequal treatment. Men and women who retire in January receive 100 percent, following that it will be 10 percent less per month – if they retire in November or December there will be zero percent inflation compensation.
“This means that the federal government is withholding 62,718.85 euros or 57,244.53 euros in life pension from Carinthian pensioners who retire in November and December this year,” calculates Sucher. The basis is current statistics, according to which the average employee pension in Carinthia for men is 2,264.63 euros (Austrian average 2,655) and for women 1,390.95 euros (Austrian average 1,655 euros). These sums result from a life pension calculated for 18 years with an inflation adjustment of 8.5 percent in the first year and 2.20 percent therefollowing.
“This has to end immediately. The pension must not seriously depend on which zodiac sign you were born in,” says Sucher, who expects the federal government to comply with the demand of Governor Peter Kaiser immediately and to stop their “robbery of the wallets of future pensioners” immediately .
Sucher also points out that the allowance is also a major economic hit: “If the inflation adjustment at the beginning of the year more than significantly exceeds the deductions that you have to accept if you retire early, then it will probably be very many retire earlier. And that in a situation in which we are lacking workers at the back and the front anyway.”
The fact that Governor Peter Kaiser wants to protect the pensioners if necessary by filing a constitutional complaint with the state government is also proof for Sucher that “the SPÖ is the only reliable force in the fight for justice and fairness”.
