SPÖ only force to prevent Blue-Black – Austria needs reform Chancellor Babler, who is committed to better living conditions for the majority
Vienna (OTS/SK) – In today’s ORF press hour, Chancellor Nehammer emphasized several times that he wants to continue “muddling around” until the regular election date in the fall. For SPÖ federal manager Sandra Breiteneder it is clear what this means: “If Nehammer says that he wants to continue as before until September, that is almost a threat. Because what that means is obvious: more months of standstill and no further action and no intervention to reduce prices for housing, energy and food. As Chancellor, he would have had the time and opportunities for over two years to work for the people in our country and improve their living conditions. Instead, today he even admitted that from his ‘plan’ for Austria, top earners in particular benefit, while the vast majority lose a lot,” Breiteneder told the SPÖ press service today, Sunday. ****
Nehammer also claimed in the press session that it would be “unserious” to talk regarding what the measures in his plan would cost. “The opposite is the case,” says the SPÖ federal manager, and further: “It is dubious to leave the counter-financing completely open!” In contrast, the SPÖ – for example when demanding payment for nurses in training, in order to combat the nursing shortage – the costs were broken down and a concrete proposal for counter-financing was also made. The super-rich should make a fair contribution and use millionaire taxes to help secure our healthcare system.
In any case, one thing is clear: “The turquoise-green government is at its end and if the ÖVP has the opportunity, blue-black is guaranteed in the next legislative period. The SPÖ is the only force that can prevent Blue-Black,” said Breiteneder and concluded: “Austria needs a reform chancellor Andi Babler who makes politics with heart and brain and who is committed to protecting the lives of the vast majority of people in Austria to improve.” (End) lp
