Splinter Cell remake will be playable without a single kill

The previously announced Splinter Cell remake can be completed without killing anyone, Ubisoft has confirmed. However, this won’t be the first time in the franchise that you’ve been able to complete the game without pulling out a weapon.

Discussing the possibilities of the upcoming project, the developers said that they want to not only give players the opportunity to play as an undercover field agent who does not kill, but also allow them to “de-escalate some of these situations” in the event of an error or adverse circumstances, senior game designer Andy Schmoll explained to GamesRadar+.

“Stealth is very important to us, and we’re committed to incorporating modern design philosophies while improving minute by minute the stealth gameplay that was so special in the original,” Schmoll said.

The Ubisoft Toronto team is looking to expand Sam Fisher’s toolbox, gadgets and secret techniques to create “moments of tension” as you progress through levels. New gameplay mechanics will allow you to quickly adapt and react in time to unpredictable enemy behavior or threats unnoticed.

“U [Сэма] he has tools in his arsenal where he can react to things like that in a split second,” said creative director Chris Authie. “He can do those split jumps, get high and sort of avoid contact. He can plan ahead by looking under doorways and using these tools to figure out where the threats are.”

It looks like the Splinter Cell remake will be especially appealing to stealth fans who like to complete levels perfectly. It should be noted that the original Splinter Cell required players to complete at least three kills over the course of a game. However, in the latest installment of the series, Blacklist, players are able to play through without killing.

Ubisoft has already indicated that the developers will not be rushing a Splinter Cell remake as the game should serve “a good foundation for the further development of the series”.
