The police succeeded and reached the traces of a spiral that had stripped copper from DEDDIE transformers in areas of Xanthi and Rodopi.

In the context of police actions to prevent-combat the theft of transformers and DEDDIE cables and following appropriate use of information, a coordinated police operation was carried out, during which the perpetrators were found to have removed, together with an unknown accomplice who is wanted, from a rural area of Xanthi, 6 copper coils from 2 DEDDIE transformers, total value 13,115 euros.
After checking three of the perpetrators strongly resisted their arrest. As it turned out, they used a vehicle in which 500 kg of copper, six coils, as well as burglary tools (cutters, crowbars, ratchets, rechargeable wheel, spanners, flashlight, wire rope, gloves, etc.) were used by the perpetrators. the commission of the thefts.
According to the investigation, the perpetrators, between 28-11-2023 and 18-4-2024, removed the copper from 66 DEDDIE transformers located in rural areas of Xanthi and from 1 transformer located in the area of Rodopi, with a total estimated value of 405,690 euros, as well as one more I.X.F. from the city of Xanthi which was found abandoned on 31-3-2023 and returned to its owner.
