Spiegel: A record number of German companies will raise prices

According to Spiegel, a record number of German companies intend to raise prices for their products. According to Timo Volmershauser, an expert at the Institute for Economic Research, inflation in the country will significantly exceed five percent.

The expert added that the jump in prices might be the highest since 1981, noting that the rise in prices is expected in the consumer sector.

Earlier, the Federal Statistical Office of Germany published a press release, according to which, in March, annual inflation in the country increased from 5.1 to 7.3 percent. This indicator was the highest in the history of observations and significantly surpassed the previous record observed in March-May 1992 and amounted to 6.2 percent. Consumer prices in Germany increased by 2.5 percent in March.
