HC Davos celebrated the return of the Spengler Cup in front of their home crowd. Graubünden won 2-1 once morest Team Canada, who suffered their second defeat following a hard-fought match.
Davos, which had disappointed during the last edition in 2019 by losing its 3 meetings, is off to a much better start this time. This success originated in the very first minutes of the match. Graubünden started the game with a bang, opening the score by Rowe following 31 seconds of play.
The 2-0 didn’t take long either. Bristedt trumped Hughes following 1:55. With this advantage, Davos was then able to see it coming. The Canadians, already beaten Monday by Sparta Prague, have certainly fought hard to come back.
But they only managed to close the gap through Connolly (38th). At the end of the match, they unsuccessfully brought out their goalkeeper in favor of a 6th outfield player. Team Canada will therefore have to go through the quarter-finals if it intends to go far in the tournament.
