On Friday evening, numerous forces from the Upper Austrian regional traffic department and the Braunau district police command carried out joint checks with a focus on vehicle tuning, noise and driving speed. The technical inspection of the vehicles was carried out on the B148 at the control point in Sankt Peter am Hart by official experts from the state of Upper Austria.
In the course of the focus action, a total of 59 vehicles were checked by the patrols deployed, of which 30 cars were immediately subjected to a technical check. Ten vehicles had serious defects, the license plates were removed on the spot. A total of 54 complaints were made regarding technical defects in the vehicles inspected.
But that’s not all: In the course of the center of gravity checks, the speed of 2287 vehicles was measured. 245 drivers were traveling too fast. The top values were 129 km/h in the 80 km/h zone and 98 km/h in the local area of Sankt Peter am Hart. The Braunau district authority issued penalties amounting to 5160 euros on site.
“Increasing Security”
“These targeted and effective priority actions by the police are important for increasing safety on our roads. They are a thorn in the side of all those who have made dangerous and irregular obstructions to the vehicle or believe that our roads can be misused as illegal racetracks,” says Günther Steinkellner, State Councilor for Infrastructure.
