“Spectacular Sprint Finish: Daniel Uña’s Impressive Performance in the Asturian Round”

He was second after a spectacular final sprint

Daniel Uña, from Benavento, begins the journey of laps with his team, Recambios Callejo de Aranda de Duero, coming close to victory in the last stage of the Asturian round with a magnificent 2nd place in a tight sprint through the streets of Pola de Lena and after a great approximation work by his partner, Juan Hermosa from Salamanca. But the performance of the Arandino Cycling Club team in the 4 days of competition of the round was exemplary, clearly leading and taking on a combative role without a doubt, something that this squad always pursues.

The Junior Vuelta Montaña Central de Asturias will be, with great security, an international UCI event in 2024 and this year it already had a spectacular level with a global average of 47 km/h, more typical of higher categories. And from kilometer 0 of the first stage, both Uña and the rest of Recambios Callejo embarked on an adventure with innumerable breakaways that gave prominence to the team, but without permission from the peloton and the other 21 teams present. A duel between the Recambios Callejo group to which the Benaventano belongs, along with other national teams called to be the most powerful and with great renown such as Bathco, Eolo, MMR, Purito or Valverde. Uña is called to be able to achieve more good results this 2023 before moving to the sub23 category.

On the 3rd day (Saturday) came the team time trial where a well-deserved 6th place was forged, of which Daniel Uña was a great architect along with his other 6 teammates (Samuel Alonso, Fernando Sanchidrián, Héctor Pindado, Marco Sánchez, Alfredo Calzada and Juan Hermosa), all without specific own material with which to work previously.

In the final overall, Uña was 21st, followed by his teammate Hermosa 22nd, also adding a 9th place for teams.

The calendar does not stop and the next important destination will be the scoring of the Global National Road Challenge in Sant Boi de Llobregat on June 4, before another one in Unquera that will be the prelude to another of the great national rounds, with a large international participation, the Vuelta al Besaya at the end of June, before an international participation of the team as a novelty this season. And surely Daniel Uña will be a participant and protagonist in several of these outstanding events, as well as trusting that he will be called by the Castilla y León Cycling Federation for the Junior National in July.
