After the heat wave, the Valais found itself underwater on Wednesday for an evening. Major storms hit the territory causing several spectacular phenomena. Fortunately, no damage is to be deplored.
In Saxon, the torrential rains caused a significant torrential lava which carried away a large quantity of wood, reports Robin Weather forecast. A video captured the footage.
The deluge also hit the Valais capital. The violent storm, which hovered over Sion from 8:50 p.m. to 9:10 p.m., dumped 15.8 mm of rain in just twenty minutes. By way of comparison, the precipitation of August 6, 2018 had given 46.9 mm in forty minutes, recalls the Swiss Association for Natural Hazards on its page Facebook.
In Upper Valais, a landslide was declared on the road between Ulrichen and the Nufenen Pass. The section was once more opened to traffic this Thursday around 12:50 p.m., specifies the cantonal police.
Floods were also reported in Chablais, in Monthey, Collombey-Muraz and Choëx. No damage was caused, however, specifies the cantonal police.
