Specialty and general consultations increase to 65 percent in Tlaxcala: IMSS-Well-being

The general director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS)Zoé Robledo Aburto reported that in Tlaxcala specialty and general medicine consultations increased 65 percenton average, along with other states where the IMSS-Bienestar health system has already been 100 percent implemented, to guarantee quality, universal, and free care.

In his speech during the conference of the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Robledo Aburto emphasized that in Tlaxcala, Nayarit and Colima the productivity of medical services increased with the four strategies of hiring additional personnel for medical attention, investment in infrastructure and rehabilitation, medical equipment and strengthening the supply of medicines and storage.

The productivity of the first states where the implementation of IMSS-Bienestar takes longer, an average increase of 65 percent is observed in specialty and general medicine consultations, there is also an average of 33 percent more surgeries in hospitals and also in the supply of medicines there has been an increase”, he mentioned.

Robledo Aburto added that last Sunday, November 27, 2022, in the Plaza de la Constitución in Mexico City, President López Obrador listed among the actions and achievements of the Mexican government, the IMSS-Bienestar health plan, a new quality, universal and free health system, which already has results in different indicators such as the increase in the number of services to the population provided by both hospitals and health units and centers.

In the particular case of Tlaxcala, there is 91 percent coverage of specialist and general doctors, which represents 1,254 doctors, as well as 1,350 nursing workers, which yield 92 percent coverage.

There is full operation of the IMSS-Wellness system in 10 hospitals, a Medical Specialties Unit and 181 first-level units, with 91 percent coverage of specialist and general medical personnel; that is, 1,154 doctors and specialist and general doctors, said the director of the IMSS.

In Tlaxcala, the supply of medicines is 96 percent in filled prescriptions and the investment is 520 million pesos in total in the entity.

Conditioning and improvement works have also been carried out on all the first-level hospital infrastructure, where 2 billion pesos were invested, and the equipment is replaced by new equipment and the one that needed to be rehabilitated for its operation.

In addition to other actions to strengthen the supply, where strategies were carried out to expand the pharmacy or warehouse, order it, and activate the system to improve the quantity of medicines and prescriptions that are filled efficiently.
