Specialists check critical points of Lake Ypacaraí

Asunción, IP Agency.- A technical team from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) verified the critical points of Lake Ypacaraí and its basin, which included measurements to determine water quality, both in the lake and its main tributaries (Yukyry and Pirayú).

According to the report from the Ministry of Public Works, the objective of the tour was to collect current data on the lake in view of the first Identification Mission that representatives of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will soon carry out.

All this, within the framework of the Comprehensive Sanitation Plan of Lake Ypacaraí by the IDB-Climate program, to be funded by the multilateral body.

The activity was led by officials from the Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (Dapsan) in conjunction with the National Directorate of Management and Management of Lake Ypacaraí (Dinalaypa), members of the inter-institutional working group created for this purpose. Specialist Dr. Juan Escriba was also present to carry out the analyses.

It should be noted that, last December, the Government of Paraguay and the IDB had marked a milestone in the fight against climate change by signing a momentous agreement during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP-28) in Dubai.

This agreement, focused on the climate agenda, positions Paraguay as one of the first countries in the innovative IDB-Clima program, which in our case contemplates the recovery of this natural heritage of all Paraguayans.
