Special Team completed diligence in Government Palace to seize material from security cameras

Minutes before 5:00 p.m., a group of officials from the Special Team of the National Prosecutor’s Office came to government palace. It was a diligence related to the security cameras that were reportedly broken. After 15 hours inside, the authorities finished their work inside the government headquarters.

“Any type of unjustified delay will be taken as an act of obstruction”said the prosecutor in charge, Jorge Mauro Garcia Juarezfollowing announcing at the entrance to the Government House.

This visit is related to the diligence of last August 9 when they arrived at the presidential residence to capture Yenifer Paredespresident’s sister-in-law peter castle. That day, the sister of the first lady was presumed to be in the palatial residence, but she was not found.

Later, with the suspicion that it would have been hidden from the president’s sister-in-law, the registration of the security cameras was requested; however, three of the cameras were said to be down that day.

“I have a judicial resolution from the Criminal Chamber of the Specialized Ordinary Court of Justice where it allows the special team of prosecutors to carry out the search of the Government Palace and the presidential residence for the purpose of seizing the footage, videos and recordings,” he said. Also, through a tweet, the Public ministry reconfirmed the reason for the diligence: “In compliance with a provision of the Judiciary, the Special Team of Prosecutors Against Corruption in Power carries out a diligence in the Government Palace to seize footage, videos and recordings from the security cameras.”

The official document of prosecution indicates that video footage and recordings from security cameras will be seized of the access doors to such buildings as well as the extraction of a mirror copy of the same on August 8, 9 and 10, 2022. Likewise, it is established that the authorized diligence must have a maximum duration of 24 hours.

The president’s attorney, Benji Espinoza, spoke through his social networks criticizing the diligence of the Prosecutor’s Office. “A judicial resolution of the room that authorizes taking the images of the Palace that has not been unanimously but in majority: 2 vs 1. It is a NULL resolution because it violates due process and the inviolability of the presidential domicile,” he specified.
