The Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (PETM) informed that in case a person has had a regular affiliation of the Social Security of Health (isHealth) and has been unemployed in recent months, you still have the Special Right to Unemployment Coverage (Latency), which allows you to receive medical care for up to 12 months following termination.
However, the Directorate of Social Security and Labor Migration of the MTPE indicated that this will depend on the number of contributions that the employer has made in the last three years prior to the date.
In this regard, he explained that for every five months of contributions, the former worker will have a two-month latency period with the right to health care. He also pointed out that this figure applies to cases of perfect suspension and extends to beneficiaries of the owner, such as spouse and minor or older children who are totally and permanently disabled to work.

The latency period is generated automatically following the declaration of termination or end of the employment relationship by the employer through T-Registro, Sunat’s digital platform, which contains information on employers and formal workers, as well as pensioners. It is aligned with the obligation of employer entities to register their regular workers in the electronic payroll.
As a guarantee that said benefits will reach the successors of the owner who contributed to EsSalud without mishap, he must have provided his employer with the information of his personal data in a timely and truthful manner, as well as supporting documents. With this, the employer will be able to enroll them in EsSalud.
