Why are you with Med im Kornfeld?
I find the idea of meeting colleagues and content creators from various areas of the healthcare system outside of the usual congress atmosphere and looking beyond the medical horizon together with everyone who is interested very appealing. That’s why I spontaneously agreed and I’m looking forward to a technically colorful late summer day in the Kornfeld, to exciting lectures, interesting discussions and hopefully one or the other crispy bread on a stick by the campfire.

What will you present and why?
As a mother of two children and a specialist in child and adolescent medicine, the health of children and adolescents is very important to me, not only professionally but also privately. The professional enlightenment in the online area is therefore very important to me. For a long time now, medical education has not only taken place in doctor-patient contact, but on different platforms, forums and various websites. Increasingly also in the social media and in many cases unfortunately without any medical expertise. Especially in the area of influencer marketing, I see the trend of many companies to use the reach of influencers to advertise special products/means from the medical field. The result is that the professional qualifications that are actually required are increasingly being replaced by the reach of an account and medical advice by a “recommendation among friends”.
I would like to show you why I don’t think this trend is a good idea and what health risks it can entail with a little look behind the scenes of my pediatric blog and Instagram account.

What is the most important topic in medicine for you at the moment?
The health of children and young people is particularly important to me, now and in the future. They are not only directly affected by the consequences of the pandemic, but will also be confronted with the structural problems of the health system, the consequences of demographic change and of course the numerous health problems of climate change. Giving children and young people a voice and making their needs the focus of social perception is a matter close to my heart. Because we as a society are responsible.
