Speaker Berri has reservations about the report of the Political Committee of the Parliamentary Union Conference in Cairo: Where is the Arab solidarity? Al-Manar TV website – Lebanon

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri announced “Lebanon’s reservations regarding the report of the Political Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference held in Cairo in its 32nd session, entitled “Arab Solidarity.” He said in an intervention following the reading of the report: “I think we meet in this conference under the title” “Arab Solidarity” Where is the solidarity in this report? Where is the Arab Common Market? This market was established by the Arabs before the European Common Market. Where is Europe today and where are the Arabs now?”

Speaker Berri asked: “Where is the solidarity in the matter of confronting terrorism? In this title or this challenge, it is required that there be Arab solidarity to confront terrorism. I suggest that there be Arab coordination in this field, with Cairo being the seat for coordinating this cooperation.”

Berri called for “the necessity of the Arab Parliamentary Union conference adopting the call to start a Lebanese dialogue with the Arab Gulf states under the auspices of the State of Kuwait.”

He called on the Arab League to “the necessity of Syria’s return to the League without hesitation,” appealing to “the Palestinians to take the initiative to achieve the Palestinian-Palestinian reconciliation under Egyptian auspices.”

And Speaker Berri concluded: “And last but not least, the fighting in Yemen has stopped and the dialogue between all its components has begun.”

The Arab Parliament Union had concluded its work in a session interspersed with the recitation of the report of the Political Committee for the decisions and included a number of recommendations, including one that approached the Lebanese issue and stated: “The Arab Parliamentary Union declares solidarity with the brotherly Lebanese people in light of the financial and economic crisis they are currently experiencing in order to restoring its health and stability and restoring normal life to its institutions in order to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
