During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, four fires affected nursery schools located in Marcinelle, Couillet and Charleroi-Nord. The Charleroi public prosecutor’s office clarified that for the moment, no suspect had been identified. Tags referring to the Evras project (for Education in Relational, Emotional and Sexual Life) were discovered at the scene of the fires. “The thesis is clearly criminal with the intention of expressing dissatisfaction with the project. Depending on the elements collected, we will see the direction to be given to these files,” indicated the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office to our colleagues at the Belga agency.

As a reminder, Evras was made compulsory in all schools of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in 2012. The parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation voted this Thursday on the Cooperation Agreement relating to the generalization of education in relational, emotional and sexual life. Several hundred people took the opportunity to express their discontent, denouncing “hypersexualization programs which aim to teach sexuality to children from a very young age”. These Evras activities (2 hours per year) aim to answer students’ questions and are supervised by specifically trained professionals.
