According to the source, the detention of the Spartak player at border control was initially not related to criminal prosecution in the Netherlands. Subsequently, when information regarding Promes’ detention reached the Dutch prosecutor’s office, it requested the UAE authorities to extradite the footballer.

According to the Mutko Against telegram channel, the accident involving Promes occurred in mid-February during a break between two Spartak training camps. It is known that Promes returned to the team on February 17. According to local laws, escaping from the scene of an accident is punishable by imprisonment for a period of one month to three years or a fine of up to five thousand euros.

According to journalist Dmitry Egorov, the trial of Promes will take place next week – March 4 or 5. Probably, a decision will be made there to deport the Spartak football player to the Netherlands.

On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for drug smuggling. Two days later, the 32-year-old football player was put on the international wanted list.
