AALBORG:It is primarily the new German investors, led by Bernhard Peters and Thomas Hitzlsperger, who have been running with the attention since it came out that the Germans are buying into AaB and acquiring a shareholding of approximately 20 percent.
But there are also other shifts in AaB’s ownership group. On Facebook, Mads Peter Veiby has announced that he has also invested a million in AaB, like a number of other local business people.
Spar Nord Fonden has also joined AaB with an investment of several million.
Chairman of Spar Nord Fonden Michael Slavensky Dahl explains that it is natural for the foundation to enter AaB with an investment.
– We have come in with an investment of five million kroner, so that we will become part of the ownership group in AaB. Spar Nord Fonden has chosen to do this because AaB is an important institution in North Jutland, and in that way it is something that Spar Nord Fonden would like to support, says Michael Slavensky Dahl.
– Socially, AaB also plays an important role in North Jutland, and we would like to help ensure that it remains so, says Michael Slavensky Dahl.
He emphasizes that Spar Nord Fonden’s entry into AaB’s ownership group must also be seen as an attempt to secure good North Jutland values in the future AaB.
– For us, it’s also regarding sticking to AaB’s history. I have had the opportunity to speak with the German investors, and they buy into that story, says Michael Slavensky Dahl, who is positive regarding a possible upgrade of the German commitment, so that it might end up with the German investors holding the majority of the shares at some point. He emphasizes that Spar Nord Fonden will also help to keep AaB’s hand, if it should be required at some point.
– We are positive regarding a German ownership of AaB, but it is also just important for me to say that Spar Nord Fonden will help ensure the North Jutland character in AaB, and should it go as we have seen elsewhere, then we are also ready to assert our influence, so that AaB passes no matter what, says Michael Slavensky Jensen.
