Spanish Super Cup: Real Madrid eliminates Valencia on penalties and goes to the final

After a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time and then extra time, the people of Madrid overcame Valencia in the penalty shootout.

It has become a regular meeting place for Spanish football fans. Direction Saudi Arabia for this – no longer really new – Spanish Super Cup format, in the form of final four with two halves and a final. This year once more, with the possibility of seeing a Clasico in the final since the two ogres of Iberian football do not face each other in the semi-finals. The first shock of this mini-tournament thus offered us a good opposition between the Real Madridqualified as La Liga champions, and Valence, unfortunate finalist of the last Copa del Rey. For this match and following the defeat in La Liga once morest Villarreal on Saturday, Carlo Ancelotti was notably deprived of David Alaba and Aurélien Tchouaméni. It was Camavinga who accompanied Valverde and Kroos in the middle, with a Vinicius-Benzema-Rodrygo trio in front. Opposite, Gennaro Gattuso bet in particular on Edinson Cavani, Samuel Lino and Justin Kluivert in front to destabilize the merengue defense.

As was to be expected, the two teams did not want to expose themselves from the start. So we had the traditional round of observation, only broken by this strike from the right of Rodrygo in the area, finally passed quite far from the frame (10th). Karim Benzema, particularly acclaimed by the supporters present in Riyadh this evening, offered a sublime individual action in the last meters but might not conclude correctly (14th). The Merengues began to take the lead in the game, with a new attempt from Fede Valverde (16th). The meeting ignited and Valencia also began to have its interesting situations, with a good intervention from Courtois to avoid the goal of the head of Cavani (19th). But the pace fell therefollowing, and there was not much to eat despite the desire of Rodrygo and Vinicius to hurt the defense of Ches.
