Sports Editorial, Sep 10 (EFE).- The Spanish Virginia Díaz finished sixth in the B final of the women’s single sculls at the Belgrade Rowing World Championships and might not secure a place for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Cantabrian rower set a time of 7:45.74 upon arrival at the finish line, where the Belarusian Tatsiana Klimovich (7:40.42) won, followed by the Swiss Aurelia-Maxima Katharina Janzen (7:43.31) and the Austrian Magdalena Lobnig ( 7.31.91), who shared the three places for Paris awarded by their final.

Díaz, 32 years old and an Olympian in Tokyo 2020 in coxless two with Aina Cid, will have one last option to get a ticket for next year’s Games at the European Championships to be held in Szeged (Hungary) between the 25th and on April 28.

The last day of the World Rowing Championships in Belgrade, which takes place this Sunday, will have another final with Spanish representation, with the participation of Alexis García and Rodrigo Conde in the double sculls.

Both have already secured their place for Paris 2024 in these World Cups, as have the two-coxless boats of Aina Cid/Esther Briz and Jaime Canalejo/Javier García and the men’s lightweight double sculls with Dennis Carracedo and Caetano Horta. EFE
