Spanish opposition demands clarification on Arancha Gonzales Laya's dismissal

The Spanish People’s Party plans to raise once more the issue of the dismissal of Arancha González Laya, ex-head of Spanish diplomacy in July 2021, at the Congress of Deputies next Wednesday.

The opposition party is demanding clarification on allegations that Morocco demanded the dismissal of the former minister in exchange for the resolution of the diplomatic crisis between the two countries, once morest the backdrop of Spain’s reception of the leader of the Separatist Front, Brahim Ghali.

The head of government, Pedro Sanchez, left the hemicycle last week without answering questions from spokespersons for the parliamentary groups on this issue, sparking criticism from the opposition.

As a reminder, the Spanish government has denied the rumors relayed by the media on the circumstances of the departure of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arancha Gonzales Laya. The Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolanos, categorically denied any involvement of Morocco.
