The Spanish National Police announced on Wednesday the seizure, thanks to the collaboration of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), of more than 1,500 kilos of cocaine and the arrest of three people during the interception of ‘a semi-rigid boat in the waters near the coast of Gran Canaria.
“The arrest of these three people and the interception of the boat, on January 12, are the result of joint control and surveillance by the National Police and the Civil Guard, as well as information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance of Morocco (DGST)”, indicates the Spanish police in a press release.
This operation led to the arrest of the crew members, the boarding of the inflatable boat and the seizure of 1,564.5 kilos of cocaine transported in 64 packages, specifies the same source.
The 64 packages of cocaine and the detainees were then taken to the port of La Luz, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where the drugs were unloaded and weighed before being transported to the Civil Guard command for storage.
“This action is part of the police collaboration between the national police and the Civil Guard, as well as with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance of Morocco (DGST) for the preventive control of drug trafficking,” concludes the press release.
