Madrid: Iranian chess player Sara Khadeem got Spanish citizenship. The Iranian government issued an arrest warrant against Sarah after she participated in the competition without wearing a hijab.

Last December, Sarah participated in the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship in Kazakhstan without wearing a hijab. After the warrant came, Sarah did not return home and sought asylum in Spain.
