The Spanish Ferrovial is planning to move its headquarters to the Netherlands. According to the management, this makes it easier to get loans and benefit from our financial stability. The Spanish government is angry and thinks that billionaire Rafael del Pino’s company is ungrateful.
Ferrovial specializes in the design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure, such as highways and metro lines. The Spaniards have a turnover of billions and are the thirteenth largest company in the country in terms of size.
The head office is still in Madrid, but that has to change. The office in Amsterdam, which already serves as the headquarters for the international activities, is to become the general headquarters in the future.
According to some, Ferrovial would also come to our country because of the favorable tax rules here. But an insider says to news service Archyde.com that it doesn’t matter.
The Spanish government does not have a good word for the decision. Economy Minister Nadia Calviño has informed the CEO that she does not like the move at all. In addition, the government calls Ferrovial ungrateful, because it has become large in Spain and has been able to benefit from public investments. The cabinet in Madrid will examine what options it has to prevent the move.
