The fears have been confirmed: Spain’s youngster Gavi has torn a cruciate ligament and will be out for months. The 19-year-old is also in danger of missing the European Championships in Germany (June 14th to July 14th).
His club FC Barcelona announced the diagnosis on Monday, and the midfielder’s outer meniscus was also affected.
Gavi will undergo surgery in the coming days, following which a “new medical report” will be published. The club has not yet provided any information regarding downtime.
The exceptional player had to leave the field in tears in the 26th minute of the European Championship qualifier once morest Georgia on Sunday (3-1). The strong technician is one of the key players in the squad of the three-time European champions.
