Spain: What Senegalese Nicolas Jackson lacks, according to Unai Emery

Nicolas Jackson is becoming more and more important in the workforce of Villarreal. Despite his recurring appearances since the start of the season, the Senegalese international has struggled to confirm in his role as an attacker.

Very restless with the ball at his feet, he suits his coach for the moment, but not in all respects.

Nicolas Jackson is far from being a locker room executive with the Yellow Submarines. However, he continues the matches. If he was able to force the hand of Unai Emery for his integration into the first team, he still has to prove. He responds on the lawn and gives satisfaction, but always has trouble concluding actions. The 21-year-old striker still can’t get over the club’s scorers, Arnaut Danjuma and Gerard Moreno, both injured in the meantime.

Indeed, it was once morest all odds that Nicolas Jackson scored Villarreal’s very first goal of the season. This during a victory over Real Valladolid (0-3) on the occasion of the first day of La Liga. But since then, nothing. The Senegalese has chained many games without scoring once more. According to the Spanish coach of Villarreal, Nicolas Jackson has a real problem finishing. “I don’t know if he’ll ever score on the chances he generates, but if he gets them, we’ll start talking numbers. It is a process and we accept it. He contributes a lot, with and without the ball,” Unai Emery said of the 21-year-old Senegalese.

Nicolas Jackson has so far made 11 appearances in all competitions for Villarreal. But overall, he only recorded one goal and one assist. Remember that his too many appearances are due to the unavailability of the club’s two scorers.
