Spain seizes 4.5 tons of cocaine on board of cattle ship from Latin America | Europe

Spanish police on January 28 announced that 4.5 tons had been seized cocaine on board the Togo-flagged transport Orion V departing from Latin America and was intercepted in the Canary Islands.

This is a ship that transports cattle from Latin America to the Middle East.

Theo spanish policethe authorities have been monitoring the operation of this ship for more than 2 years, having checked and searched the ship many times but did not detect drugs despite having many clues.

During a raid on the ship on January 21, the navy and air force identified cocaine hidden in a container used to feed livestock.

The operation involved the forces of the Anti-Drop Agency drug United States (FEA), Drug Enforcement Administration (MAOC-N), Togo authorities and Spanish police.

During this operation, the Spanish police arrested 28 sailors from 9 countries.

In mid-January, Spanish authorities also intercepted a similar cattle ship and also seized 4.5 tons of cocaine on board the Blume, also flying the Togo flag.

Due to its geographical location near the North African region, Spain has become the main gateway to which the criminal gangs wanted to smuggle drugs into Europe.
