Spain-Morocco Business Meeting: Promoting Investment and Collaboration Opportunities

A Spain-Morocco business meeting will be held from June 6 to 8 in Casablanca, with the aim of promoting investment between the two countries.

“This event will take place in the presence of Xiana Méndez, Secretary of State for Commerce of Spain and President of ICEX Trade and Investment, as well as a delegation of 58 Spanish companies looking for potential local partners allowing them to establish or consolidate in Moroccan territory,” said a statement from the Spanish Embassy in Morocco.

Participating companies belong to different economic sectors, including renewable energy and water management, environment, industrial sector, transport infrastructure, education and service companies, the same source said, noting that the meeting will begin on June 6 with a presentation on the Moroccan market at the residence of the Consul General of Spain in Casablanca.

The day of June 7 will be devoted to business development and the promotion of relations between local actors and Spanish representatives. The official inauguration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be carried out by Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Morocco; Xiana Méndez, Secretary of State for Commerce of Spain; Ricardo Díez-Hochleitner, Spanish Ambassador to Morocco; and by Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).

After the inauguration, there will be two expert panels with the collaboration of companies and public bodies. The first panel will be entitled “Spain-Morocco: towards a consolidated economic partnership”, highlighting the importance of Spanish-Moroccan economic and commercial relations, as well as the investment opportunities existing in the Moroccan market.

The second panel, entitled “Financing of investment in Morocco”, will focus on the instruments available to companies to finance these investment opportunities.

Subsequently, workshops will be organized on the renewable energy sector and the environment, infrastructure, the industrial sector and education in Morocco, notes the same source, adding that the program will include B2B sessions, bilateral meetings between Spanish companies and their potential local partners, at the invitation of the Economic and Commercial Offices of the Spanish Embassy in Morocco.

June 8 will be entirely dedicated to B2B meetings. In total, more than 130 meetings have already been scheduled to promote possible collaboration agreements.
