A match to remember by Lamine Yamal at 16 years of age and 362 days old, he boosted the winning character of a Spanish generation hungry for glory.

Nothing will take away Spain’s conviction that it has found a way. The right touch-up to a style that needed to evolve following hitting rock bottom in the last World Cup. The excitement represented by young talents who compete with greatness and illuminate great challenges with optimism. Mbappé decided to accept Yamal’s challenge. To turn the semi-final into a duel of greatness between two players who are destined to be protagonists of many battles in LaLiga over the years. Luis de la Fuente’s system of assists soon collapsed. Navas had made a good move to cut off the first French counterattack, the great fear following losing the ball, when the first time he was unprotected following breaking an offside trap, he retreated, he did not go up to Kylian, who, with time to think, put the measured pass over Kolo Muani.

France defeated at Euro 2019 following nine games unbeaten

France ended a nine-match unbeaten run in the final stages of the continental competition, dating back to losing to Portugal in 2016, although they had only won three of those games on the scoreboard.

Since that extra-time defeat once morest the Portuguese side at the Saint Denis stadium in Paris, with Éder’s goal in extra time, France had accumulated, over the last few editions, six draws (0-0 with the Netherlands and Portugal and 1-1 with Poland in this edition and 1-1 with Hungary, 2-2 with Portugal and 3-3 with Switzerland in the previous one) and three wins: 1-0 once morest Belgium in the round of 16 of this Euro, 0-1 once morest Austria in the first phase and 1-0 Germany in 2021.

At the same time, France had only lost one of their most recent 16 Euro meetings, the aforementioned 0-1 with Portugal, and in one of their last 23 duels if we also take into account the final phases of the World Cup in the first 90 minutes or extra time, because they had lost on penalties to Argentina in 2022 and to Switzerland in 2021.
