Spain is ready to consolidate and strengthen its relations with Morocco – Le7tv.ma

During a press conference in the United Arab Emirates, the head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, expressed his desire to consolidate the “very positive” relations that his country maintains with Morocco.

According to what the daily reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia in its edition of Friday February 4, Sanchez specified: “We have always considered Morocco as a strategic ally in several areas such as immigration, economic development and security”. Especially, he adds, that through Spain, Morocco has become an important ally of the European Union. This statement by the head of government from the UAE comes following a frantic campaign waged by the far right once morest the kingdom on the issues of the Moroccan Sahara, Sebta and Mellila.

The “Europa Press” agency, however, considers Pedro Sanchez’s statement as a new initiative for rapprochement with the Alaouite kingdom following the outstretched hand of King Felipe VI failed to soften Rabat’s position. The Moroccan authorities have always insisted that Spain show more “clarity” regarding its position on the Moroccan Sahara.
