Cádiz (Spain), Feb 12 (EFE).- The Spanish Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, insisted this Saturday that “it is more important than ever” to bet on diplomatic channels and dialogue with the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Speaking to the media in Cádiz (south), Robles recalled that the missions carried out by Spain with NATO are “of stability” and not offensive.

The Defense Minister explained that they are “permanently” evaluating how events are taking place on the border between Ukraine and Russia and pointed out that “the most important thing is that all NATO members seek unity.”

“In these difficult times, it is more important than ever to bet on the diplomatic route and dialogue” and believe that, “despite this permanent evaluation, in the end the diplomatic route will succeed,” he defended.

The tension on the border between Ukraine and Russia continues to increase due to the deployment of thousands of Russian military personnel on the border, while the European Union (EU) and the United States coordinate preparations for a “robust and comprehensive” sanctions package, that would be applied “quickly” in the event of military aggression once morest Ukraine by Russia, the European Commission said on Saturday.
