The Euro 2024 entered its final stretch and this Tuesday the semi-finals of the tournament will begin with one of the big matches that will take place in that stage: the duel between the French and Spanish national teams.
The French team and La Roja will face each other at the Allianz Arena in Munich in a duel with a reserved forecast, where both teams will seek their place in the final of the tournament.
France is coming off a knockout once morest Portugal in a match that had to be decided from the penalty spot and where the ‘Bleus’ were more precise in reaching the next round.
In France, there will be one change for sure, namely the entry of Adrien Rabiot for Eduardo Camavinga, and the question remains as to whether Didier Deschamps will put Randal Kolo Muani or Marcus Thuram up front.
Spain, meanwhile, confirmed their title favourites following eliminating host Germany in a dramatic match that was decided by a late goal from Mikel Merino in the second half of extra time.
Luis de la Fuente’s team is coming into this match with a reduced number of players, as they will not have three starters on the pitch: Pedri (injured), Dani Carvajal (sent off) and Robin Le Normand (out due to accumulation of yellow cards).
The Spanish and French teams meet once more at the European Championships following 12 years. The last meeting, played on 23 June 2012, was valid for the quarter-finals and was won by the team then managed by Vicente del Bosque by 2-0 with a double from Xabi Alonso.
On the other hand, the most recent clash took place on October 10, 2021 in the final of that season’s Nations League where the French won 2-1 with goals from Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappé. The discount was scored by Mikel Oyarzabal.
