Four people have died following being swept away by the powerful waves of the storm “Nelson” which is hitting Spain.
The storm “Nelson” that sweeps the Spain manifested itself with wind gusts of 90 kilometers per hour and waves up to 8 meters high, with a tragic toll of four deaths.
According to an announcement by the Guardia Civil, a 16-year-old Moroccan boy was playing with his friends near the waves at Miracle Beach in the Mediterranean region of Tarragona and accidentally fell into the stormy sea.
A German tourist, who was in the area, jumped into the water to save him, but both eventually drowned, swept away by the strong waves.
According to newsit, in northern Spain, also in the region of Asturias, waves swept away an English tourist who was observing the rough seas on the edge of a breakwater at the mouth of the Nalon River.
Another woman in the nearby settlement of Koudigeros was swept away by the waves as she passed by the village’s small port.
Civil Protection has issued warnings to citizens not to approach the beaches and avoid low-lying areas that may be affected by high tides and waves.
Bad weather “Nelson” will continue in the next few hours, with heavy rains and very strong winds in many areas of the country.
