This murder investigation by the Italian police is truly extraordinary: a 58-year-old woman is accused of killing her great-aunt with a portion of spaghetti.
As the Ansa news agency writes, the victim was in need of care and was only allowed to eat pureed food. Despite this well-known restriction, the grandniece gave the old lady uncut spaghetti and a dessert when she visited a restaurant. Shortly following visiting the restaurant, the 80-year-old died.
At first it was assumed that the death was natural, but a few incidents now prompted the investigation. According to the prosecution, the 80-year-old is said to have changed her will quite suddenly in favor of her great-niece, who was declared the sole heir to around half a million euros.
Charge of aggravated murder
When the grandniece tried to claim the inheritance for herself, bank employees became skeptical and informed the police. The suspect is now under house arrest and is wearing an ankle bracelet. Now he is being charged with aggravated murder – through a portion of spaghetti.
