SpaceX thinks we’ll land on Mars before the end of the decade

Elon Musk has repeatedly shared his desire, as well as his plans, to put humans on the surface of Mars. If the idea seemed to be slipping away, due to the difficulty associated with it, SpaceX has already guaranteed that we will land on the Red Planet before the end of the decade.

Starship will be the vehicle of choice.

In an interview with CNBC, SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell revealed that astronauts will land on the surface of Mars before the end of this decade. Although Elon Musk’s will has always been clear, the goal seemed far from achieved.

We should be sending people to the surface of Mars within a decade… I think it will be within this decade, yes. People on the moon, earlier.

I think we have to do a big expedition to the surface of Mars, and then people will start thinking regarding it more. I think in five or six years people will see that it’s a real place to go.

dit Shotwell.

The interview with SpaceX’s chief operating officer will be part of “Inspiring America: The 2022 Inspiration List,” which will air on NBCUniversal News Group channels as well as its streaming platforms.

SpaceX ship

To make the trip to Mars by humans, SpaceX is currently developing a spacecraft – the Starship. It will be a combo, as it will also have a rocket which should be reusable. The goal is to get people to Mars, but also (and apparently sooner) to the Moon.

As Tech Times recalls, the Starship has already been sent on numerous lunar missions. For example, in 2018, the Japanese Yusaku Maezawa nonchalantly went to the Moon, back and forth. More than that, NASA chose this SpaceX spacecraft to send its first manned lunar mission, as part of the Artemis program.
