SpaceX launches Starlink Premium with speeds up to 500Mbps for $500

SpaceX

Starlink, which can theoretically provide satellite Internet services around the world, announced that it will launch a new upgraded version in the second quarter of 2022 Starlink Premium, the speed will be delayed from 50-250Mbps @ 20-40ms of standard service, and the speed will be increased to 150-500Mbps with the same delay time; the upload speed will also be doubled from 10-20Mbps to 20-40Mbps.

For this double speed performance, users will pay more than 5 times the cost. Starlink Premium costs a whopping $500, along with a more expensive $2,500 satellite receiver and a $500 deposit. However, SpaceX also stated that it will give Starlink Premium users more advanced treatment, including better networking performance under “extreme weather conditions” and a 24/7 priority customer service hotline.

According to SpaceX, the satellite receivers dedicated to the Premium service will be larger to ensure adequate bandwidth even during peak network usage. SpaceX has launched beta testing since October last year, and then launched a reduced version of the satellite receiver, and then today’s Premium value-added service. It can be seen that SpaceX is just right for this new golden tree to grow healthily.
