SpaceX on Sunday launched the Falcon 9 rocket loaded with 53 minisatellites for its Starlink internet network. The launch took place from Cape Canaveral (Florida) at 13:38 UTC. “Deployment of 53 Starlink satellites confirmed“, tweeted the company. SpaceX had already launched 53 minisatellites on July 17.
SpaceX has already launched more than 2,600 satellites into space since May 2019. The network is currently available to users in North America, Europe, and Australia. The company ensures that Starlink would be able to provide Internet access in any part of the planet with a speed of 1 gigabit per second, which corresponds to 5G. SpaceX estimates that launching a total of 11,000 satellites and commissioning them will cost $10 billion. (Tasse)
