LOS ANGELES, June 29 (Xinhua) — The Dragon cargo spacecraft of US private space company SpaceX left the International Space Station on Thursday, NASA said. The spacecraft blasted off toward Earth at 12:30 p.m. ET Thursday from the space-facing port of the station’s Harmony module. After entering the Earth’s atmosphere, the spacecraft will perform a parachute-assisted landing off the coast of Florida, southeastern United States, on Friday, according to NASA. On its return trip to Earth, Dragon will carry more than 3,600 pounds of supplies and science experiments designed to take advantage of the space station’s microgravity environment, according to NASA. The capsule was launched on June 5 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, and arrived at the International Space Station on June 6, delivering more than 7,000 pounds of research experiments, supplies and hardware.
