A spaceship carrying nearly two tons of cargo and some space-grown tomatoes has returned to Earth from the International Space Station. The unmanned SpaceX spacecraft touched down off the coast of Florida in the Atlantic on Sunday night, according to the US space agency NASA.
On board were some frozen dwarf tomatoes that the astronauts had grown and harvested on board the ISS for several months. On Earth, it will now be examined how the conditions in space affect their growth and quality. From growing vegetables in space, NASA promises increased crew satisfaction and greater flexibility for long-term missions.
