The developers behind Space Marine 2 have delayed their beta as the team wants to focus all their attention on a better, polished release.
After the last few years, where many major games launched in poor shape, this seems like a smart move. Announced in 2021 and then delayed until 2023, Space Marine 2 looks pretty radical.
On June 28th, Sabre Interactive confirmed that they would not be conducting a previously planned online multiplayer beta test for Space Marine 2.
The developers say that the game is “almost ready” and that they are focused on optimizing, polishing, and fixing the remaining bugs and issues. As such, they decided to cancel the beta because they claimed it would prevent “the development teams” from preparing for launch.
“We know this is disappointing news for some of you,” Saber Interactive said in a Steam post on Friday.
“As a thank you to those interested in participating, players who registered via online registration before June 28, 2024, midnight Paris time, will receive the limited Bolt Pistol skin.”
The beta was first unveiled in August 2023, with players able to sign up for access on the game’s official website. At the time, there was no release date or window for the beta.
However, following that teaser, Saber Interactive went silent on the beta, leaving some fans worried regarding whether or not it would happen. Now we know why.
