S&P downgrades Ukraine to ‘selective’ default

Credit rating agency S&P on Friday lowered Ukraine’s rating, which is now labeled “SD”, or “selective” default, the last notch before default, due to the moratorium on its external debt obtained on Wednesday “Given the announced terms and conditions of the restructuring, and in accordance with our criteria, we consider this transaction to be (…) equivalent to default,” S&P said in a statement.
