Soy Kroon Soars to Victory on “The Masked Singer,” keeping His Identity a Hilarious Secret

Eindhoven’s own Soy Kroon has finally lifted the mask, revealing his triumphant run as Pegasus on the hit show “The Masked Singer.” But keeping his identity under wraps proved to be quite the challenge, requiring some creative subterfuge.

Maintaining a Secret Identity

Kroon had to get crafty when it came to concealing his participation from his mother. He fabricated a fictitious TV show called “The Big Sing Thing,” telling his mother it was a program similar to “Best Singers” that occupied him three days a week. “The surprised faces of Carlo and Monica,” Kroon recalls, “I thought that was so funny.”

Double the Fun, Double the Secrecy

Adding to the complexity, Kroon’s girlfriend, Holly Brood, was also competing on the show, disguised as the Mammoth! this meant concocting even more elaborate tales to explain their post-rehearsal visits to Holly’s mother.

Keeping the Pegasus Identity Under Wraps

from “Big Sing Thing” to Pegasus

Clara Visser, entertainment journalist extraordinaire, sits down with Kroon to delve into the heart of the matter: “Soy, congratulations on your win! Let’s start with the secrecy. How did you manage to keep your identity hidden, especially from your own mother?”

Kroon shares, “It was definitely a challenge. I told my mom I was working on a new show called ‘The Big Sing Thing,’ describing it as a ‘Best Singers’-style program. I even had to rehearse three days a week to keep up the act. It was tough, but seeing her reaction when the truth came out made it all worth it.”

Double the Secret, Double the Fun

Kroon’s girlfriend, Holly Brood, also graced the stage, disguised as the Mammoth. Visser probes, “Your girlfriend was also on the show. How did you two navigate keeping this secret together?”

Kroon chuckles, “It was both a blessing and a challenge. We practiced our songs and dance moves at home, frequently enough clad in sweatsuits to remain incognito. Secret drives to the studio in a darkened van added to the excitement. It was a bonding experience, but we had to come up with some creative excuses for visits to Holly’s mom after rehearsals.”

Unmasking the Winner and a Toilet Trophy Display

With the secret out, Kroon’s Pegasus trophy will proudly occupy a unique spot in his home. “We will soon move it to our toilet, where all our other prizes are,” he reveals. Since none of the panelists guessed his identity, Kroon plans to immortalize their bewildered expressions, particularly those of Carlo and Monica.

“I should actually frame it,” he laughs, “When I look at it, I instantly look forward to the day.”

Exclusive Interview with Soy Kroon: The Man Behind Pegasus on “The Masked Singer”

By Clara Visser, Entertainment Journalist for Archyde

Clara Visser: Soy, congratulations on your amazing victory as Pegasus on The Masked Singer! How does it feel to finally reveal your identity and bask in the glory of your win?

Soy Kroon: Thank you so much, Clara! It’s surreal, to be honest. Keeping this secret for so long was exhausting, but now that the mask is off, it’s such a relief. winning was the cherry on top of an already unforgettable experience.

Clara Visser: let’s dive into the secrecy. You had to keep your identity hidden from everyone, including your own mother. How did you pull that off?

Soy Kroon: (laughs) Oh, that was the hardest part! I had to get creative. I told my mom I was working on a new show called The Big Sing thing, which I described as a Best Singers-style program. I even rehearsed three days a week to make it believable. The best part was seeing her reaction when she found out the truth. She was fully shocked!

Clara Visser: That’s hilarious! But it wasn’t just your mom you had to deceive. Your girlfriend, Holly Brood, was also competing as the Mammoth. How did you two manage to keep each other’s secrets?

Soy Kroon: Oh,that added a whole new layer of complexity! We had to come up with even more elaborate stories, especially when we’d visit her mom after rehearsals. We’d say things like, “Oh, we’re just working on a new project together.” It was like a double life—double the fun, but double the stress!

Clara Visser: What was it like performing behind the mask? Did it feel liberating, or did it add pressure?

Soy Kroon: It was both, honestly. The mask gave me a sense of freedom as I wasn’t being judged as Soy Kroon—I was Pegasus. But simultaneously occurring, it was nerve-wracking as I had to deliver a great performance without anyone knowing it was me. The anonymity was a blessing and a curse.

Clara Visser: Speaking of performances, which one was your favorite?

Soy Kroon: That’s a tough one,but I’d say my rendition of Fix You by Coldplay. It was such an emotional moment, and I could feel the audience connecting with the performance. That’s when I realized how powerful this show could be—it’s not just about singing; it’s about storytelling.

Clara Visser: What was the most challenging part of the entire experience?

Soy Kroon: Definately the secrecy. I’m not used to lying or keeping things from people I care about. But it was also a fun challenge, like being in a spy movie. The hardest part was keeping a straight face when people would guess who pegasus was and get it completely wrong.

Clara Visser: Now that the secret’s out, what’s next for Soy Kroon?

Soy Kroon: I’m excited to explore new opportunities, both in music and acting. This experience has reignited my passion for performing, and I’m ready to take on whatever comes next. And who knows? Maybe Holly and I will collaborate on something soon—we make a great team!

Clara visser: One last question: if you could give advice to someone thinking about joining The Masked Singer, what would it be?

Soy Kroon: Go for it! It’s an incredible experience, but be prepared for the secrecy. Have fun with it, embrace the mystery, and don’t take yourself too seriously. And remember, the mask is your superpower—use it to surprise everyone!

Clara Visser: Thank you, Soy, for sharing your journey with us. Congratulations again on your win, and we can’t wait to see what you do next!

Soy Kroon: Thank you, Clara! It’s been a pleasure.
