Soviet GAZ-24 “Volga” 2022-2023 returns in the form of a new sedan? First photos and details

Russian motorists have repeatedly asked representatives GAZ company about the possible return of the Volga to the market, and they constantly answered that the Soviet car had already become part of history. However, rumors that the classic sedan may indeed be revived keep popping up. But basically, many motorists say that in the event of the return of the Volga, the car will be presented in a modern form.

But one domestic designer abandoned this concept. He announced the publication of a series of renders, which, judging by the first images, reveal a slightly modernized GAZ-24 Volga 2022-2023, which has retained its classic appearance. According to the author, the future sedan should take from its predecessor the characteristic round-shaped optics and a long radiator grille with many small vertical slats. In this case, the body will be slightly curved.

The choice in favor of such a design is quite in line with current trends in automotive fashion. Many companies are reviving the retro style. BUT Renault and a number of manufacturers even began to return to the market cars that were sold several decades ago. In this regard, it is not surprising that the presented Volga looks a little outdated.

Even in the event of launching a project to return the Soviet sedan to the market, GAZ still has one problem unresolved: the company needs at least one power unit that will fit such a car. Assistance in the development of the GAZ-24 Volga 2022-2023 can be provided by Volkswagen, which will provide its own 1.4- and 2-liter turbo units. The German company will also benefit from participating in this project, given that Passatwith which the revived Volga could compete, recently left the Russian market.
