The acting profession implies that a person playing a certain role must be able to convey the feelings and emotions of his character so that the viewer believes in them. At the same time, the actors themselves cannot always get along with each other and find a common language. We present you duets from Soviet films that were able to create masterpieces, despite the differences.
Andrey Myagkov and Olga Naumenko “The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!”
Olga Naumenko auditioned with Oleg Dal. Kissing scenes with him were filmed quickly and easily, but the actress might not kiss Andrey Myagkov. Unfortunately, there was no chemistry between the actors, so the tender scenes were difficult for Olga.
Sergei Bondarchuk and Elina Bystritskaya, “The Unfinished Tale”
The actors mightn’t stand each other, but that didn’t stop them from playing great lovers in the 1955 film The Unfinished Tale. A few years earlier, Bondarchuk and Bystritskaya met on the set of the film Taras Shevchenko, where they managed to seriously quarrel and never spoke once more.
Barbra Brylska and Yuri Yakovlev, “The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!”
In this case, the hatred was not mutual. Barbra Brylska was not happy with Yuri Yakovlev, so she refused to kiss him. The actress did not like the appearance of her partner so much that all the scenes with kisses were filmed from a special angle.
Natalya Fateeva and Natalya Kustinskaya, “Three plus two”
On the screen, the actresses played friends who quickly became friends. One got the impression that Fateeva and Kustinskaya were friends in real life. However, they were actually at odds. At first, the Soviet beauties quarreled over Andrei Mironov, however, this conflict was resolved. But following Boris Yegorov, the husband of Fateeva, left the family and married Kustinskaya, the actresses hated each other.
