AFTER the flood and landslide disaster that hit a number of sub-districts in Luwu, South Sulawesi, since last Friday (3/5) morning, some areas are still isolated, difficult to reach by land. Areas affected by the disaster in Luwu Regency, such as Latimojong District which is located in a mountainous area, have around 3,000 residents who are still isolated.
This area is difficult to reach because road access is blocked by landslide material, and several bridges were badly damaged due to flash floods. The South Sulawesi Provincial Government, together with the South Sulawesi Regional Police and Hasanuddin Air Base, are taking steps to distribute logistics using helicopters to areas that are still isolated
Acting South Sulawesi Governor Andi Bachtiar stated that his party had sent logistics to an isolated area inhabited by around 3,000 residents. The distribution was carried out using helicopters provided by the South Sulawesi Regional Police and Makassar Hasanuddin Air Base.
“We have sent logistical assistance to an isolated area inhabited by around 3,000 residents, using helicopters belonging to the South Sulawesi Regional Police and Makassar Hasanuddin Air Base,” said Andi Bachtiar.
This is the first step to ensure that aid can reach affected residents quickly and efficiently.
He also emphasized that the government continues to carry out handling efforts together with the TNI-Polri, BNPB, Basarnas and other relief units.
