DAUD Kim, a famous YouTuber from South Korea, showed his persistence and dedication in building a mosque in Incheon, South Korea.

Through his personal Instagram account @jaehan9192, Daud Kim shared photos of the land he bought as well as the land purchase contract to start the mosque construction project. His vision is that every street in Korea in the future will be filled with the beautiful chanting of the Adhan.

“Finally, with your help, I have signed a land contract to build a mosque in Incheon. This place will soon become a mosque. I can’t believe this day has come. I have plans to build a prayer place and an Islamic podcast studio to preach to the Korean people. “I’m sure this is really a big step. There will be many difficulties, but I’m sure I can do it until one day when every street in Korea is filled with the beauty of the call to prayer, I will do my best,” he wrote, (11/4).

The construction of this mosque was certainly not without difficulties, considering that in the video he uploaded via his personal Instagram (18/4/21), Muslim students in Daegu received strong resistance to building a mosque from local residents.

After hearing news that students were prohibited from building mosques, Kim decided to interview Muslim students there.

In a YouTube video uploaded in 2022, Kim tells the story of his journey. When we arrived at the place, there were lots of rejection banners with harsh words written on them, and one of the buildings even had a pig’s head displayed on it. Apart from that, residents there also blocked access to the construction site and did not allow workers to enter.

After that, Kim met with students from Pakistan and interviewed them. The student said that he had been offering prayers in a very small place for seven years and the place could not accommodate the large number of people. Meanwhile there were many Muslim students, around more than 150 people.

A year later, in 2023, Kim uploaded a video stating that construction was still ongoing and was expected to be completed in 2023 or 2024. He also expressed his gratitude for the donations and support given for the construction of the mosque.

Apart from building a mosque, this YouTuber who decided to convert to Islam in 2019 also created an Islamic podcast studio specifically for Da’wah, with the aim of reaching the Korean community. Even though the difficulties faced were great, Daud Kim remained optimistic with strong determination in building the mosque. (Z-10)
